We received the following information this morning from BCBS regarding reimbursements for tele services. Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else that I can do to be of assistance during this pandemic. Thank you!
- In-network LPCs can do tele-psychotherapy for HMO and PPO members, without authorization.
- Per their contracts, any therapy (virtual or face to face) needs to be provided in a HIPPA compliant manner.
- The American Telemedicine Association can assist them with getting information to set up a HIPPA compliant portal—there are many on line to purchase.
- Blue Cross Online Visits are actually another provider for services to our members and do not have anything to do with the professional relationship the LPC has with an established patient.
Also, confirmed that Tele-mental health sessions for all Medicaid recipients are covered even if their existing plan does not currently cover telehealth.
