Update of Official Information Regarding Telehealth From BCBSM and BCN

  1. Will BCN and BCBSM extend coverage for tele-mental health sessions to all policy holders, even if their existing plan does not currently cover telehealth?  

BCBSM will extend coverage to all Underwritten policy holders.  However, BCBSM will not automatically extend coverage to policy holders whose self-funded (ASC) plans do not cover telehealth.  We would strongly encourage them to accept this policy but we cannot force them to do so.

     2.  For those plans that include telehealth but those services are restricted to BCBSM Online and    American Well providers, will they extend coverage to all providers, especially for reasons of continuity of care with their existing provider during these troubling times?

BCBSM will extend coverage to Underwritten policy holders.  BCBSM will not automatically extend coverage to policy holders whose self-funded (ASC) plans have limited their coverage to American Well.  We would strongly encourage them to accept payments to all providers but we cannot force them to do so.
